Youth Political Participation in Elections
The “Leadership for Sustainable Development”, organized a training workshop on “Youth Political Participation in Elections”, in cooperation with “Adyan Foundation – Rashad Center for Good Governance”.
More than 20 young participants from Mount Lebanon district, aged between 21 and 35 years old, participated in the workshop that was held in Yarzeh – Baabda.
The training aimed to enable the participants to launch awareness campaigns to motivate the largest possible number of young people to participate in the 2022 parliamentary elections.
After the welcoming speech of Mr. Michel Daccache the President of “Leadership for Sustainable Development”, the trainers explained how to launch awareness campaigns. In the first part, they defined the campaign’s pillars, then in the second part they addressed how to effectively influence the campaign, and finally emphasized the campaign elements and how to plan and adopt strategies to launch it.
Then there was a speech by Abdo Saad the director of the “Youth Mock Parliament” project at Adyan Foundation, who spoke about his experience in this project, and the most important topics that awareness campaigns should focus on to simulate the fears of young people and the reasons for their non-participation in political life. Then there were testimonies for a number of deputies in the Youth Parliament who shared their experiences with the audience and gave them advices.
In the last part of the workshop, the participants competed in groups, launched their awareness campaigns, and the winning group was selected, which qualified to compete with the winners from other regions in a competition supervised by experts in the political and electoral field.
