The 2017 Leaders for Democracy Fellowship (LDF) Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Program launched by the "World Learning" organization and The University Of Virginia – The Center for Politics (UVA) on the 18th of February  2017 in Virginia- United States.

This program supported 24 leaders from the MENA region and North Africa who have high leadership skills so that they can cope with the political and social challenges in their communities more effectively.

Leadership for Sustainable Development - LSD was represented from Lebanon by its President Michel. Daccache with the group of Leaders.

Leaders for Democracy Fellowship (LDF) is a U.S. Department of State-funded program that supports 50 civil society leaders per year from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to more effectively address current political and social challenges in their communities. A US-based and a Lebanon-based yearly fellowship combines five weeks of academic learning with a nine-week professional practicum where Fellows gain knowledge, skills and experience needed to address complex local economic, environmental, political and social challenges and cultivate professional ties with US and Lebanon-based institutions.

LDF also creates opportunities for information sharing and collaborative projects through a dynamic alumni network in order to sustain and build upon this learning.
